يومياً تكبر غربتي فيكم، يغدو القول عذاباً والكلمات رحيل. يومياً يألفني الصمت، شيء ما في الروح يموت. فأغادر كم ندماً ندماً وتجاه حضوري أهجركم، يا من كنتم أبداً مرآة غياب. لا تكفيني الشمس. فجميع أماكنكم، لا تمسك ظلي، لا تغري برقي، لا تأخذ هيئة قلبي، لا تتوكأ غير قناع، وفراغ شاسع يملؤنا وصقيع حار. ما يجمعنا هو ذاته يفصلنا، هو وحده يعلنني للشمس جهات. ويهيئني لرحيل فيّ بغير إياب. ربّاه... هو أي غياب، يحضر لأصير مرافئ للنسيان، وخارج واقعنا المكسور، أصير وليمة أحلامي. لا تقربني لغة لا يشبهني حجر، لا ماء يدفئ أنهاري... أتلمس نبض الأرض وأعرف وصولكم: بحر لرحيلي، فاتحة للغيم وأبراج لظلالي. لكني ملزوم بالصوت... ملزوم معكم بالموت الحي، وملزوم بمتاهاتى... في شعره عصام سليمان شيء يشابه الشعر، يشابه موسيقى تنساب في مساحات النفس وتحلق لها مناخاً لمسافات بيضاء.
