"ظلم والله، كله ظلم،" قالت وهي تنحب عالياً. حتى الكلمات نفسها تتكرر؛ معقول؟ ترى ابنتها على الشباك تنظر الى الشمال فترى نفسها. تسمعها تبكي بكاء مخنوقاً حتى لا يسمعها أبوها فتسمع فيها نفسها؛ معقول؟ "وسام!" سمعتها تصرح في الظلمة أمامها، "اسمعني أينما كنت! إن لم يأت بك حبي ستأتي بي دموعي لكنك ستأتي. ستأتي غصباً عن الدنيا؛ ستأتي غصباً عن الحياة. ستأتي إلي مساء وستخلع نعليك بالباب وسترمي سترتك على الكرسي وسترفع ظاهر يدي الى شفتيك وتقول: عروب حبيبتي أنا عدت فلا تتركيني اذهب مرة ثانية."
