هذه مسرحية من ثلاثة فصول، جديدة في صورتها، قديمة في موضوعها، إذ تعرض هذه المسرحية لحادثة حصلت في العهد الأموي بين عالم وهو سعيد بن جبير، وطاغية وهو الحجاج بن يوسف الثقفي والتي كان في نهايتها أن قتل الحجاج سعيد بن جبير وبعد ذلك بأيام مات الحجاج.
