كان سيد قطب رائداً في ميدان الأدب والنقد، ورائداً في ميدان الفكر والبحث، ورائداً في ميدان الدعوة والحركة، ورائداً في ميدان الجهاد والاستشهاد. عاش حياة حافلة، وتثقف بثقافة عريضة، وترك آثاراً ضخمة، وختم الله حياته في هذه الدنيا بخاتمة سعيدة، حيث جاءته الشهادة تسعى إليه في سجنه. وقد أظهرت بعض الدراسات عن سيد قطب، إلا أن معظمها تنقصها الدقة والموضوعية، والتوثيق والبحث المستقصي، حيث صيغت بأسلوب عاطفي، كما وجدت فيها أخطاء كثيرة أثناء الحديث عن حياة سيد قطب الأدبية أو الإسلامية، أو أثناء الإشارة إلى تراثه الأدبي والفكري، من هذا المنطلق تأتي هذه الدراسات التي هي بين يدي القارئ عن سيد قطب، في محاولة من الباحث لتقديم صورة حقيقية صادقة عن الشخصية الفذة، وذلك من خلال منهج علمي موضوعي موثق، وقد جعل الباحث هذه الدراسة في بابين: الأول تناول فيه عصر سيد قطب وبيئته وحياته ومخصصاً الباب الثاني للحديث عن ثقافته ومواهبه وآثاره.
