صاحب مرثية الصفاء هو واحد من تلك القلة، التي يرى أفرادها أن الحياة لا تتوقف عندهم ومن هذا المنطلق يحتفظون، رغم الإخفاق، بالقوة والجرأة ليقدموا للأجيال اللاحقة خلاصة تجربتهم في العمل النضالي وموطن الخلل والفشل فيه كي تُسَهّل لها (للأجيال اللاحقة) سبل النجاح فيما أخفقوا هم فيه.
بهدوء يقدم المؤلف سيرة حياته وبخاصة ما يتعلق منها بالعمل في القضايا الفكرية والسياسية التي استرت لعقود وهي بلا شك تجربة غنية تنير جانباً لا بأس به من مسار القضية الفلسطينية.
ومن أجواء الكتاب والسيرة نقرأ: "في حلّي وترحالي، ومدى نيّف وسبعين عاماً، وقع بصري على مشاهد متباينة، بل متناقضة أحياناً، كما طرقت سمعي، أو بلغتني بأشكال متعددة، اخبار وحكايات متنوعة، بل ينفي بعضها بعضاً أحياناً، منها ما تنزل ذاكره على القلب برداً وسلاماً، ولكن منها أيضاً ما يستشيط الغيظ، بل يستثير حتى النزعات الغريزية الدفينة في قاع النفس البشرية.
ولعل من أشد هذه الأخيرة وقعاً عليّ هو ذلك المشهد لبيت العائلة في اليوم التالي لسقوط قريتي - معليا - من أعمال الجليل الغربي الأعلى الفلسطيني، في أيدي العصابات الصهيونية اواخر العام 1948 (عام النكبة).
