ركزتُ خلال هذا الكتاب على تغطية الجانب التطبيقي للنظرية، خاصة وأن هذا الجانب غير مغطى في مختلف الكتب والنظريات العربية التي تناولت الإرشاد والعلاج إلا ما كان منها مترجما، وبالطبع جاء هذا النوع على نفس الثقافة التي تنشأ فيها، دون عمق واهتمام بالثقافة وتميزها.
الكتاب يتألف من إحدى عشر فصلاً، ركزت في الفصل الأول على النواحي الشخصية والمهنية والأخلاقية للمرشد أوالمعالج، أما الفصل الثاني فقد تناولت خلاله العلاج التحليلي لفرويد أما الفصل الثالث فقد تناولت خلاله الإرشاد والعلاج الفردي لـ إدلر، ثم الفصل الرابع (العلاج الوجودي)(فرانكل)، ثم الفصل الخامس: العلاج المتمركز حول العميل (كارل روجرز)، ثم العلاج الجشطالتي لـ فرتيز بيرلز، ثم الفصل السابع نظرية تحليل التفاعل (بيرن)، ثم الفصل الثامن العلاج القائم على نظام الأسرة، وهذا منحنى لم يتعمق فيه الأدب النفسي العربي، وخلاله حاولت جهدي أن أركز على دور المرشد والمعالج للتفاعل مع الأسرة لكونها البنية الأساسية في المجتمع.
ثم كان الفصل التاسع العلاج العقلي والانفعالي السلوكي لـ ألبرت أليس، ثم الفصل العاشر العلاج الواقعي (وليم جلاسر)، ثم الفصل الأخير عقدت مقارنات بين النظريات المختلفة من حيث بنية هذه النظريات وكيفية فهمها للاضطراب والعلاج.. وغيرها من الاختلافات والفروقات.
إنني خلال هذا الكتاب أردت أن أقدم جهدا جديدا للعلاج والإرشاد النفسي، فهذا مرجع مفيد بإذن الله تعالى للمرشد والمعالج، للطالب والباحث للأب والمربي، إنه مرجع بلغتنا العربية، هذه اللغة والتي هي عنوان هويتنا وحضارتنا، إنها أملنا في الوقت الحاضر، وموضع رهاننا في المستقبل، وهي أقدر على استيعاب كافة المعارف كما كانت دوما.
