يشمل الكتاب ثمانية فصول، الفصل الاول يتضمن ماهية علم النفس التربوي واسسه ومنطلقاته واهدافه واهمية علم النفس التربوي للمعلم والمهارات اللازمة لتأهيل المعلم، اما الفصل الثاني يشمل الاهداف الرئيسة لعلم نفس النمو ومبادئ النمو الرئيسة وماهية النمو المعرفي ونظرية فيجوتسكي في النمو المعرفي، اما الفصل الثالث يشمل ماهية التعلم السلوكي والمعرفي واتجاهاته الكلاسيكية، اما الفصل الرابع يتضمن الاهداف التعليمية واستراتيجيات التعليم وتعريف الهدف السلوكي واهمية الاهداف السلوكية ومستويات الاهداف التعليمية وانواعها، اما الفصل الخامس يبحث في ماهية الدافعية ووظائف الدافعية والنظريات التي تفسر الدافعية وانواع الدافعية، اما الفصل السادس يتضمن مفهوم الذكاء واتجاهات في ال ذكاء ونظرياته وماهية الذكاء الاجتماعي والاخلاقي والانفعالي الوجداني، وقياس الذكاء واختبارته. اما الفصل السابع يبحث في مفهوم التفكير وانماطه ونتاجات تعليم التفكير ونموذج تعليم الفلسفة للبيمان ونموذج دي بونو في التفكير والتفكير المنطقي والناقد ونموذج فيشر، واخيرا الفصل الثان الذي يتضمن اهداف الادارة الصفية وخصائص الغرفة الصفية واسباب ظهور السلوك غير المرغوب والعقاب في الصف والادارة الصفية الابداعية.
