حسان علي حلاق (1946 - ) هو كاتب وأكاديمي لبناني وُلد ببيروت عام 1946 بمنطقة الطريق الجديدة، حصل على دبلوم عال في الدراسات الإسلامية ثم ماجستير في التاريخ عام 1977، وبعدها حصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة الإسكندرية عام 1981، ألّف حلاق عدة مؤلفات وقد ترجم عديد منها إلى الألمانية والإنجليزية. وهو عضو في اتحاد الكتاب اللبنانيين. وحائز على جائزة جامعة الإسكندرية التقديرية عام 2007. متزوج وله ولدان وثلاث بنات.

ألّف حلاق أكثر من خمسين مؤلفاً في مواضيع تاريخية وإسلامية، ومن أشهرها:

يتميز المجتمع اللبناني بسمات لبنانية وعربية، كما أن الانفتاح الثقافي والعولمة المعاصرة أضفت على هذا المجتمع سمات عالمية وغربية بالتحديد. هذا وإن دراسة المجتمع اللبنانية تتضمن رصداً لبعض الأنشطة والإسهامات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية والتربوية والعلمية والثقافية والصحية والديموغرافية والإسكانية والحزبية وسواها من الملامح التي تميز المجتمع اللبناني، وفي سبيل هذه الغاية فقد حرص الباحث في كتابه هذا على تقديم نماذج من ظواهر وسمات وأنشطة المجتمع اللبناني وذلك لدراسة بعض جوانب وأنشطة ومشكلات المجتمع اللبناني.
وقد توزعت فصول الكتاب التسعة على الشكل التالي: الفصل الأول: التكوين التاريخي والجغرافي والعرقي والديني للمجتمع اللبناني. الفصل الثاني: المجتمع اللبناني من الفينيقية إلى العروبة، الفصل الثالث: ثقافة المجتمع اللبناني: تعددية حضارية أم تنوع ثقافي؟ الفصل الرابع: تطور خطط التربية ومواكبتها للتنمية في لبنان وأثرها في المجتمع اللبناني، الفصل السادس: دور الجمعيات والمؤسسات الأهلية وأثرها في المجتمع اللبناني والعربي، الفصل السابع: دور العوامل الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والتربوية والديموغرافية في تنمية وتطور المجتمع اللبناني، الفصل الثامن: التركيب والواقع السكاني والهجرة والتهجير وأثرهما في المجتمع اللبناني، الفصل التاسع: العادات والتقاليد والحياة الاجتماعية في المجتمع اللبنانية.
