تأكيداً للدور الذي يضطلع به إتحاد المصارف العربية من أجل تطوير الجهاز المصرفي العربي والعمل على خلق نوع من التعاون العربي في هذا المجال قام الإتحاد بالعمل على سرعة إصدار وتوزيع دليل المصطلحات المصرفية العربية الموحدة، ليكون واحداً من أهم الإنجازات التي يستهل بها الإتحاد نشاطه.
وتود الأمانة العامة للإتحاد أن تشير إلى أن هذا الدليل قد تم إعداده تنفيذاً للتوصية التي اتخذتها الندوة العربية الأولى لإدارة المصارف التي عقد بمدينة بيروت خلال المدة من 13 إلى 22 نوفمبر "تشرين ثان" 1972، والخاصة بتكليف المنظمة العربية للعلوم الإدارية بأن تقوم بدراسة مشروع المصطلحات العربية المصرفية الذي سبق لخبراء المنظمة أن قاموا بإعداده وتم عرضه على الندوة المذكورة.
وقد اجتمع لهذا الغرض بمقر المنظمة وبدعوة منها خلال المدة من 24 فبراير "شباط" إلى 7 مارس "آذار" 1973 لجنة من الخبراء العرب المعنيين بهذا الموضوع، حيث قامت هذه اللجنة بدراسة مشروع هذه المصطلحات دراسة تفصيلية وأدخلت عليه بعض التعديلات وقررت في ختام أعمالها دعوة المنظمة إلى إعادة عرض المشروع المعدل على لجنة تتولى تشكيلها بحيث تتوفر فيها تخصصات مصرفية وقانونية ولغوية لمراجعته قبل إقراره في الشكل النهائي.
وتنفيذاً لذلك فقد تشكلت لجنة في نطاق المنظمة وعلى نفقتها من خبراء عرب متخصصين، عقدت هذه اللجنة إجتماعاتها بمقر المنظمة خلال المدة من 14 إلى 19 يوليو "تموز" 1973، حيث قامت بمراجعة المشروع وأدخلت عليه بعض التعديلات وأصبح في صورته النهائية التي وافق عليها المجلس التنفيذي للمنظمة العربية للعلوم الإدارية.
وعليه، تقدم الأمانة العامة للإتحاد هذا الدليل لكافة المشتغلين في القطاع المصرفي في الدول العربية.
