كلمة الإسلام تتضمن أن الإسلام يعني التسليم والإذعان الحقيقيين للعزيز المتعال، أما التسليم الحقيقي فهو التسليم لله بكل وجودنا، لا التسليم على مستوى الإرادة فقط، فإذا لم تحط بنا دائرة هذا التسليم، فسوف نقع في مطبات مخالفة الشريعة والتعليم الإلهية... والحاصل: أن الدين الإسلامي يؤكد أن الأديان الأخرى لا بد من أن تتكئ على هذا المفهوم من التسليم على نحو لا يفهم من كلمة "الإسلام" الدين الذي نزل على النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم عن طريق القرآن فقط، بل إن جميع الأديان تتصف بهذه الحالة وهذا المعنى، وعلى هذا سمى القرآن نبي الله إبراهيم عليه السلام مسلماً... وأنا كفرد مسلم أتعاطى مع هؤلاء الأنبياء كما يتعاطى معظم المسلمين، وأشعر بأن تلك الشخصيات تمثل حقائق حية في العالم الإسلامي، مع كونهم ينتمون إلى اليهودية والمسيحية، كما وأدرك جيداً أنهم عندما يتحدثون عن الإله، فإنهم لا يتحدثون إلا عن ذلك الإله الواحد، الذي نشترك معهم في الاعتقاد به...
