يستعرض هذا الكتاب تاريخ مؤسسة من مؤسسات المجتمع المدني التي لها دور واضح في أي نظام سياسي سواء أكان ديموقراطياً أم ديكتاتورياً، وهي مؤسسة الحزب السياسي التي جاء هذا الكتاب ليتناولها في اطار النظام السياسي الأردني الذي لا بد أن تكون له إفرازاته الخاصة على شكل هذه المؤسسة. ومن هنا فقد أجرى المؤلف مقارنة بين التجربة الحزبية الأردنية ما بين عامي 1946-1957 وعام 1992 وهو العام الذي صدر فيه قانون الأحزاب إلى وقتنا الحاضر، حيث اعتمد في سبيل استعرضا مراحل التطور الحزبي في الأردن على الأسلوب التاريخي والسياسي دون اسهاب أو اغفال لأي حزب من الأحزاب التي تم تشكيلها في الأردن، مدعماً الكتاب ببعض الملاحق التي تثري مادة الكتاب.
