تأتي أهمية هذه الدراسة النظام السياسي الإسلامي بأن العالم يمر في مرحلة فتن سياسية وإضطرابات، وأول المتهمين في ما يحدث من فتن وقلاقل هو الإسلام، ويضيفون للإسلام عبارة "السياسي"، وكأن للإسلام إسلامات كثيرة، ولماذا يتهم الإسلام في المجال السياسي كما يتهم في مجالات أخرى؟...
ولا بدّ أن يكون السبب بأن الصراع الفكري في العالم يتركز على المبادئ والمعتقدات قبل الصراع على المادة والأرض والممتلكات، وهذه المبادئ والمعتقدات هي التي تنتج النظم، فلا بدّ للمسلم أن يعرف حقيقة الإسلام ونظامه السياسي، وبخاصة أن البلاد الإسلامية قد مرت بمراحل انجذبت فيها إلى النظم الإشتراكية، والشيوعية، والرأسمالية، وأصبح من المسلمين من يقدم أقوال منظري هذه النظم وفلاسفتها على ما جاء في الكتاب والسنّة، كما حكمت من قبل القوميين والعلمانيين.
إن أهمية دراسة النظام السياسي الإسلامي للتأكيد على أن الإسلام لم يترك جانباً من جوانب الحياة دون أن يهتم به وأن يشرع له، فكما كان للأمم التي عاصرت بعثة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم نظمها الخاصة وكما ظهرت أنظمة جديدة فيما بعد، كالنظام الإقطاعي والنظام الرأسمالي والنظام الشيوعي والنظام الإشتراكي وغيرها.
فالإسلام أيضاً له نظامه الخاص به، لكنه يختلف عن الأنظمة الأخرى في أنه مستمد أساساً من الوحي ومن التشريع، ولا بدّ أن ندرك أن نظام الإسلام متميز عن النظم الأخرى وإن وجدت بعض أوجه الشبه، فهذا التشابه إنما هو في أمور جزئية.
