تعد الحكام المتعلقة بقانون الجنسية فرعاً من فروع القانون الدولي الخاص وهي أحكام تختلف عن أحكام القانون الأخرى. وقد تنازع الفقهاء في نسبته موضوع الجنسية إلى القانون الدولي الخاص أو القانون الدولي العام. حيث عمدت كلية الحقوق في الجامعة الأردنية إلى تدريس الموضوع ضمن مادة القانون الدولي الخاص. والأستاذ الدكتور جابر إبراهيم الراوي يقدم في كتابه شرحاً لأحكام قانون الجنسية وفقاً لآخر التعديلات.
والكتاب يقع في قسمين القسم الأول يتألف من خمسة فصول، يتناول الفصل الأول التعريف بالجنسية وطبيعتها القانونية، أما الفصل الثاني فيعرض للقواعد الأساسية التي يقوم عليها نظام الجنسية، ويبحث الفصل الثالث في كيفية اكتساب الجنسية والفرق بين الجنسية الأصلية والجنسية اللاحقة. بينما يبحث الفصل الرابع في ازدواج الجنسية وانعدامها، ويعرض الفصل الخامس لفقد الجنسية واستردادها.
أما القسم الثاني من الكتاب فهو يتألف من خمسة فصول، الفصل الأول، يبحث في الأسس التي قامت عليها الجنسية الأردنية بينما يبحث الفصل الثاني في اكتساب الجنسية الأردنية بصفة أصلية ويبحث الفصل الثالث في اكتساب الجنسية اللاحقة بحكم القانون أما الفصل الرابع فيعرض لفقد الجنسية الأردنية واستردادها. بينما يبحث الفصل الخامس والأخير الاختصاص في منازعات الجنسية وإثباتها وحجية الحكام الصادرة فيها.
