… كانت الشهقة الأخيرة، وجسدها النحيل المغلّف بالسّحاب يجف كقشرة برتقال، أخذت تناديه قبل الوداع، لاسيما قلبها الذي لا يهدأ أمام المستحيل، فتسوقه قدماه نحو غرفة غريبة، تنعكس منها بقايا خيوط ضوء هاربة وتختلط مع أنفاسه الوجلة. كل الذي أخافه سماع طرق سنابك الخيل تحت الأرض؛ فرك رأسه بكف يده وضغط أكثر فشعر بضيق وحالة اختناق تمسك برقبته كحبل مشنقة، وعاد يسأل حائراً: "أين أنا؟ ولِمَ أتيت إلى هنا؟ أو حتى… من أنا؟؟! ومن ذا الذي يحفر أسفل الغرفة؟"
تنهّد هامساً: أوكسجين… هذا كل ما ينقصنا..!
