يقول الشيخ عفيف النابلسي بأنه ومنذ سنين طويلة يمني نفسه بكتابة مباني الشهيد الصدر على الفتاوى الواضحة وقد وفقه الله لهذه المهمة بتأليف كتابه هذا مستعيناً بأمهات الكتب في الفقه والتاريخ، غائصاً في بحورها لاجتناء لآلئها ونفائسها، آخذاً من جواهرها، طارقاً مسالكها حفاظاً مسائلها ومستنداً إلى مداركها، ثم ليأخذ بالتجوال باحثاً في المبسوط والنهاية والفتية والخلاف والمختلف والذكرى والبيان والدروس والرياض وجامع المدارك والمقنع والمقنعة والتذكرة ومسار الشيعة واللمعة والروضة والمختصر النافع والقواعد جامع المقاصد والصحاح الست عند السنة والأصول الأربعة عند الشيعة والكافي والاستبصار والتهذيب ومن لا يحضره الفقيه، مغنياً دراسته هذه بما أسعفته به كتب المستمسك والبحار والمصباح في الأدعية والأوراد والمفاتيح ومفتاح الكرامة وفي كتب الرجال معظمها، كاتباً من ثم مدارك ومباني الفتاوى الواضحة من أولها إلى آخرها ليزيد عليها ما استطاع دون أن يتجاهل آراء ما جاء عند السنة في أكثر المسائل المتفق عليها عندهم وعند الشيعة من الطهارة إلى الصيام إلى الصوم إلى الحج الخ... وكذلك مضيفاً مجموعة من الروايات المفيدة التي أَمِنَ من صحتها في أعمال الخير والإحسان والأخلاق والعمل الاجتماعي والسياسي، شرحاً ما يتناسب ومجال البحث.
بالإضافة إلى ذلك ضمّن المؤلف كتابه العديد من آراء إخوانه في الدراسة وأساتذته في الدرس، وغالباً ما كان يغلق فهمه عند عبارات أستاذه الكبير السيد محمد باقر الصدر الواضحة وفتاواه السهلة. أما فيما يعود إلى المسائل التي خالف فيها غيره من الفقهاء، فلم يكن ذلك إلا لقوة اجتهاده وسطوة فقاهته، واتساع مداركه، والمؤلف معترف بانحيازه إلى أستاذه في مخالفته الفقهاء، مبرراً فتاواه المخالفة للمشهور وذلك لقناعته باجتهاداته وقوة مبانيه الأصولية والفقهية. وقد عمل المؤلف على أن تكون المباني كلها من الصحيح إلا أنه وعندما لم يوفق في ذلك حصل على الكثير منها، والباقي كان من الموثق والحسن الذي كان يعمل به أستاذه كغيره من الفقهاء.
