نبذة النيل والفرات: تزخر المكتبة العربية بعدد وافر من المؤلفات المهمة التي تتناول حياة الحيوان. بعض منها يتناول الجانب الأدبي وبعض منها الجانب الأسطوري. وقد ورد في القرآن الكريم ذكر لتفاصيل كثيرة ومهمة عن الحيوانات من الخصائص والأحكام والقصص الكثيرة. وكان أهل البيت عليهم السلام قد فصلوا في شؤون الحيوان ما لم يذكره قبلهم ولا يذكره أحد بعدهم وهذا ما يشكل محور هذا الكتاب أو المعجم المفصل لحياة الحيوان بما قاله آل محمد صلوات الله عليهم وقد نظمه المؤلف على طور علمي حيث يسهل للطالب الأخذ والاستفادة منه. والمؤلف يذكر ملخصاً عن الحيوان يتعلق بفصيلته وتركيبه وموطنه وطعامه وإفراداً باباً مستقلاً للأحكام الشرعية المتعلقة بالحيوان من باب الحلية والحرمة والطهارة والنجاسة ونصاب الزكاة ومقدار الهدي. وقد ذكر المؤلف المعاجز التي تتعلق بالحيوان والتي أجراها الله سبحانه وتعالى على يد أهل البيت.
