لا بد أولاً من الإشارة إلى أن هناك فروق كامنة بين التعجب كظاهرة وبينه كمفهوم، فالمراد بالظاهرة ذلك المعطى اللغوي الخام المجرد وعن كل وصف، وأما المفهوم فيراد به الظاهرة أي ظاهرة التعجب كما يتصورها نسق نظري معين.
معنى هذا أن هناك عبوراً من الظاهرة الخام إلى مفهوم نظري وارد ضمن وصف لغوي يندرج في أنظومة نظرية محدد، وإذا كانت الظاهرة حين تتسربل في سربال المفهوم تنتظم في إطار نظري معين؛ فإنها كمفهوم تختلف في إطار نظري إلى آخر، مؤدى ما سلف أن الظاهرة كمعطى خام واحدة إلا أنها كمفهوم متعددة تعدد الأطر النظرية التي تنخرط في سلكها.
ومعلوم أن الظواهر حين تنتظم في أوصاف لغوية تفرزها نظريات لسانية معينة فإن ما يناط بها من تعريفات يختلف من نظرية إلى أخرى، يستفاد ما سلف أنه يتحتم علينا أن نكون واعين بأن ثمة فرقاً شاسعاً بين الظاهرة كمعطى خام موجود في اللغة موضوع الوصف؛ وبينها مفهوماً نظرياً مصوغاً داخل نظرية لسانية معينة.
وإلى هذا، فإذا كانت الظاهرة تنقلب إلى مفهوم فتختلف من نظرية إلى أخرى، فمن المتوقع أن تتصور ظاهرة التعجب تصورات مختلفة بدءاً بالفكر اللغوي القديم وإنتهاء بالفكر اللغوي الحديث، وداخل كل فكر من هذين الفكرين يرصد هذا الإختلاف بحسب ما تم إفرازه من نظريات لسانية.
حول هذا الموضوع تأتي هذه الدراسة التي شغلت جزئين، تم في الجزء الأول التصدي للتعجب بإعتباره ظاهرة، وتم تفصيل القول في تمظهرات هذه الظاهرة وجزئياتها وجوانبها الصيغية والدلالية في لغات مختلفة نمطياً، وأما هذا الجزء الذي هو الثاني، فينشغل في دراسة التعجب لا كظاهرة، بل كمفهوم مؤطر داخل نظريات لسانية من حيث المنطلقات الإبستيمولوجية والمنهجية، وسيتم إعتماد عينة من هذه النظريات من الفكر اللغوي القديم ومن الدرس اللساني الحديث، بحيث يخصص الفصل الثاني من هذا الجزء لطرح أشكال التعجب، وأشكال التمثيل له في نظرية النمو الوظيفي.
