الجلوس في الفراغ عادة لا يألفها إلا من تعود أن يكون له وجود نصفي فجلس كالمقذوف بعيداً عن نفسه ربما كي ينجو من الألم الحصار الذي يتمدد داخل الجسد الذي أبيح. لكن الكلمات تغدو جوفاء مجرد ادعاءات فارغة أو قل هي حوارات صماء تدور على نفسها.
والكاتب يعترف أنه يجلس في فراغ لا ينتهي مطلقاً العنان لأحلام تتشكل خلال سحابات الدخان الذي ينفثه الغليون: "أرى في الخريف هذا طريقاً طويلاً/فأخطو طير يحط، ورق النهارات يذوي أمامي/وروحي نائمة على الشجرة".
ومع الحصاد يتحول الشعور بالزمن إلى ألم قاتل وتغدو قصائد الأمل صفراء ذابلة وهناك يبدأ الخرابُ الداخلي "قبل أن يبدأ الربيع، يبدأ الحصار، لقد أفرغ الشتاء كل أوهامه عليّ، وهو يعلن الرحيل وأنا لوحدي أواجه الربيع! مقاومة لا يدركها أحد، فرح تغطيه خرابي الداخلي". بالفرح يواجه خرابه الداخلي لكنه وهو في خضم الحزن يدرك أن لا غد بانتظاره؛ "كم من الوقت قضيتُ في هذا القطار، كم من الموت، من الضحك دائم، ومن شجرة!، اللحظات دائمة، موتنا دائم، حزين دائم، ركض دائم، أنا هنا، بلا آفاق راكضة، بلا أسماء، بلا رحيل، بلا إضحاك، بلا هذه الـ"بلا"، حتى ينتهي كل شيء ويسكت".
