"يبيِّن لنا ديوان «أعيش خارج ساعتي» أن الاعتراف في الأدب لا يتحدَّد في المجاهرة بالأسرار الشخصية، وملامسة المحرم والمكبوت فحسب، بل ان التجربة مع الكآبة واليأس والهزيمة المؤكَّدة، هي اعتراف بالضعف الإنساني الفردي، إزاء حشود الألم، مثل هذا الاعتراف يمنح القوَّة والتطهير والسلام الداخلي للنفس، مع أن مجمل قصائد ديوان المعالي هذا هي شظايا متفرقة لبورتريه شخص يتجسَّد في ملامحه خراب العالم." الحياة "بورتريه شخص يتجسد في ملامحه خراب العالم"
