هذا الكتاب يستعرض سيرة عطرة من سير أحد الشهداء العرب الذين ضحوا بأنفسهم من أجل نصرة أمتهم وتحقيق رفعتها ومجدها. هذا البطل هو الشهيد عدنان المالكي. الذي وعى دوره في بناء الوطن, وكرّس نفسه لخدمته بتفانٍ لتحقيق رفعة أمته وعزها. وقد انتزع عدنان لقب البطولة, لا من قلوب محبيه وحدهم, بل من أفواه قادة قاتليه أنفسهم, وقد أظهر الكتاب دوافع الجريمة النكراء التي ذهب ضحيتها سيف ماض من سيوف العروبة, كانت تعقد عليه الأمة كبير الآمال. بالاستعانة بما رواه لفيف من رفاقه في السلاح والكفاح, الذين عاصروه في مراحل خدمته العسكرية, أو اشتركوا معه في المعارك البطولية التي خاضها في جبهات القتال. وغيرهم ممن عاصروه وكانوا الى جانبه. لعل في هذا العمل خدمة للوطن ونفعاً للأجيال التي تجد في سيرة الأبطال وتضحية الشهداء نبراساً مضيئاً تسير على هديه, وقدوة صالحة يحتذى بها.
