وبدأ تطوير نوع جديد من الرواية والتي هي عبارة عن خليط من القصة والسيرة الذاتية والنقد الاجتماعى والنظرة الفلسفية والتصوف، يجمع هنرى بين نقيضين فهو يمتلك القدرة على التعبير الواقعى ثم لاتعدم وجود افكار خيالية في ادبه أكثر اعماله تميزا هي مدار السرطان هنرى ميللر، مدار الجدى هنرى ميللر ،والربيع الأسود.كتب ميللر أيضا عن اسفاره، ومقالات في التقد والتحليل الادبى

"أنا من أولئك الكتاب الذين لا يكتبون إلا بعد سنوات من الحدث. وقد صدرت غالبية مؤلفاتي من السنوات العشرين الأخيرة، كتاب أو كتابان ألفتهما في اللحظة ذاتها، مثل "مدار السرطان" و"تمثال ماروسي" ولكني في الغالب أعود إلى الماضي. أخبرتك مرة أني سهرت طوال الليل أدون ملحوظات في جلسة واحدة استمرت حوالي اثنتي عشرة ساعة أو أربع عشرة ساعة. كراسة الملحوظات هذه كانت أساس كل مؤلفاتي التي تتناول سيرتي. أما اليوم حين أجلس لأكتب أتحدث هنا عن الأعمال الرئيسية فإنني أنظر إلى الملحوظات نظرة عابرة فحسب".
بهذه الكلمات المتقضبة رد ميللر على سؤال كان "برادلي سمت" قد وجهه له خلال مقابلة صحفية أجراها معه في منزله وببعض الأماكن العامة أثناء قيامهما بكتابة سيرة ميللر الشخصية، وتجربته ككاتب عالمي له العديد من المعجبين من الأطفال والنساء والشيوخ. ومن سيطالع هذا الكتاب من سلسلة "أعلام الفكر العالمي" سيقف على كامل سيرة ميللر الذاتية وكما رواها حول برادلي سمث.
