يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن " اليوم المشهود للمهدي الموعود " وهو اليوم الذي ينتظره المؤمنون للقاء إمامهم المنتظر ، حيث يورد المؤلف السيد عبد الرسول الموسوي الروايات الواردة عن الأئمة المهداة عليهم السلام التي يتوجب فيها على الإنسان المسلم الإلتزام بالإيمان ومواجهة التحديات المناوئة في عصر الغيبة ، على اعتبار أنها تعتبر جهاداً ونضالاً لا يقل عن جهاد صحابة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم . فعن الإمام زين العابدين عليه السلام : " من ثبت في موالاتنا في غيبة قائمنا أعطاه الله عز وجل أجر ألف شهيد من شهداء بدر وأُحد " وقد ورد هذا الحديث في كتاب " كمال الدين " لمحمد بن علي بابويه القمي .
وعليه ، يطرح الكتاب موضوع الطاعة والتقليد والإمامة والإنتظار كما يقارن ما جاء في ذكر الإمام المهدي عن البشارات ، واعتقاد المسيحيون بظهور المسيح في آخر الزمان وكيفية نزوله من السماء ، ويشير إلى عقيدة اليهود بأنهم ينتظرون قائماً من ولد داوود النبي ، وخروج المهدي من أهل بيت النبوة ليملأ الأرض عدلاً كما ملئت جوراً .
