الرواية هي الميثاق الأنثوي الذي تسعى فيه المرأة لحماية وجودها المؤنث من تسلّط الثقافة الذكوريّة، لكن ظلّت المرأة على الرغم من ذلك على الهامش لا سيما فيما يتعلّق بسياق التجربة مع الآخر الغربي، ومدى تأثرها بمقولاته إيجاباً وسلباً.
وذلك لأن نظرة المجتمع لها ما تزال تقليدية الطابع، فهي الطرف الأضعاف العاجز عن تمثيل نفسه والذي ينبغي أن يُمثَّل؛ وعليه كانت المرأة وما تزال الآخر الداخلي، آخر الهامش والظل والعتامة، وذلك بحكم هيمنة قيم ومعتقدات وسلطات ومؤسسات وثقافة متحيّزة تتعامل مع المرأة جسداً، وصوتاً، وكتابة، بنوع من الحذر والريبة والدونيّة، وقد ظلّ تحيز الذكورة لأنفسهم وإستئثارهم بالجانب السلطوي، هي المشكلة التي تتحرك في جسد المجتمعات العربيّة بقصد أو غير قصد.
من هذه المنطلقات، جاءت أهميّة دراسة "الآخر في الخطاب الروائي النسوي العربي"، ومعاينة الآخر، لا كخارج مطلق وإنما كمقوِّم ومكوِّن أساسي في بنية الوعي بالذات، خاصة إذا كانت هذه الذات إمرأة، فالدراسة تستمد ضرورتها في إطار بعدين أساسيين: الأول: دراسة "الآخر" بوصفه إختلافاً جنسياً ودينياً وثقافياً وحضارياً؛ الثاني: أنّ معاينة "الآخر" المختلف تأتي من وجهة نظر نسويّة، مما يتيح الفرصة لتقييم الذات في علاقتها بالآخر، لا من جهة واحدة أي الذكورية (ما يكتبه الرجال)، وإما من وجهة نظر الآخر أي ما تكتبه النساء، وذلك يعطي تصوّراً أكثر شموليّة وعمقاً للواقع، ورؤية أكثر تكامليّة، وتقدّم أيضاً حلولاً أكثر نجاعة للتحديات التي تواجه مجتمعاتنا.
وفي هذا الإطار، تناولت الدراسة في مقاربة تحليليّة ثلاث عشرة رواية نسويّة موزّعة على أقطار عربيّة مختلفة: الأردن وسوريا ولبنان ومصر... إلخ.
