الصعوبة في ذاكرة المسرح هي في تبيان العلاقة بين الماضي والحاضر، في حين أن العرض المسرحي لا دوام له، وأن الآثار التي يتركها تقتصر على نصوص مكتوبة (مسرحيات، مذكرات وكتابات نظرية) ووثائق تخطيطية (رسوم، صور، ومخططات).
انطلاقاً من هذا اليقين، عزمنا على تقديم "سيرة المسرح" من خلال التعرف إلى "الأعلام" الذين أحيوها و"الأعمال" التي حفظت حيويتها، وبقصد إشاعة معرفتنا للمسرح كمسيج حي يفلت من كل تقنين ومن أحادية المعاني، ويتجدد إدراكه وتتجدد ألوانه وظلاله على صفحة الأجيال.
