حدث خلال القرن العشرين نموٍّ نوعي على شكل طفرة أو قفزة لحجم ومقاييس المعلومات والمعارف المتداولة، ومنها بالطبع المعلومات العلمية-التقنية، وسمي ذلك بالانفجار المعلومي (أو انفجار المعلومات) وبالثورة المعلوماتية (أو ثورة المعلومات) وكان نشوء المعلوماتية وتطورها العاصف ناتجين عن النمو الحاد في ساحة التطبيق الاجتماعي وفي دينامية وتعقيد هذا التطبيق بصورة متزايدة، وبذلك اكتسب مصادر المعلومات في المجتمع أهمية استراتيجية.
وفي هذا الإطار يأتي كتاب "المعلوماتية والمجتمع" حيث يحاول المؤلف استشفاف مجتمع ما بعد الصناعة ومجتمع المعلومات وذلك من خلال محوري هذا الكتاب، دار المحور الأول حول المعلوماتية وعصر المعلومات شرح فيه المؤلف مفاهيم أساسية في المعلومات والمعلوماتية وتحدث عن الإبداع والإنسان والأخلاق في ظل المعلوماتية وعن الاتصالات الروبوتات وعن العالم النامي في عصر المعلومات والمعلوماتية. وكرس المحور الثاني للحديث عن المعلوماتية ونظريات المجتمع بعد الصناعي.
حدث خلال القرن العشرين نموّ نوعي على شكل طفرة في المعلومات والمعارف المتداولة، ورافق ذلك تحولات كبرى على مستوى طريقة الحصول على المعارف. هذه الطفرة أنتجت تحولاً كبيراً في آليات المجتمع التي رسّخها المجتمع الصناعي، فطرحت مفاهيم عن مجتمع المعلومات، وعن مجتمع ما بعد الصناعة، ولم يقتصر انعكاس تلك الطفرة على الصعيد التكنولوجي بل امتد ليشمل كافة مناحي الحياة وقد أنتج ذلك نظريات جديدة على المستوى الاجتماعي، كما على مستوى النظريات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية.
ولا يزال المجتمع العربي يتلقى سبل التحولات هذه بنوع من الإحساس بالغربة، رغم أنه يستخدم ما أنتجته هذه التحولات من سلع وأساليب حياة ووسائل تقنية حديثة. يحاول هذا الكتاب تقديم مساهمة في إيضاح المفاهيم، وعرض أهم نظريات المجتمع المعلوماتي وبعد الصناعي على أمل أن يصبح هذا الموضوع المهم جزءاً من تفكيرنا وارتباطنا المعرفي بما يحصل في العالم لندرس مدى تأثيره علينا ولنساهم في خلق معرفة تخصّنا في هذا الميدان الذي يتصدّر اهتمامات العالم.
