ريمون آرون (بالفرنسية: ʁɛmɔ̃ aʁɔ̃ ) (بالإنجليزية: Raymond Aron ) فيلسوف وعالم اجتماع فرنسي، ولد 14 آذار سنة 1905 في مدينة باريس وتوفي سنة 1983. ركز في فكره على نفي ما هو خارج الوجود المادي وما يقع خارج نطاق الخبرة والمعرفة، واهتم كذلك بالمجتمع الصناعي الحديث ورأى أن العامل الأساسي في حركة المجتمعات ليس هو الصراع الطبقي فحسب، بل هناك صراع النظم السياسية الذي رأى أن تأثيره أعظم بكثير من الصراع الطبقي. كما تطرق كذلك في كتاباته إلى العلاقات الدولية والتناقضات الفلسفية والنواقص في الديمقراطية الغربية.

يضم هذا الكتاب ثماني عشر درساً عن (المجتمع الصناعي) ألقيت في جامعة "السوربون" قسم علم الإجتماع في سنة 1955/ 56، لعالم الإجتماع والفيلسوف "ريمون آرون" وهي بمضامينها تتوجه إلى المجتمع الطلابي، تعلم منهجاً، وترسم أفكاراً كما تحمل وقائع وآراءاً. يقول ريمون آرون في مقدمة كتابه هذا "... أن هذه الدروس ليست سوى تمهيد ولا يمكن أن تكون سوى تمهيد، موضوعي...، لدرس مشكلة تتلاعب بها الأهواء السياسية. فهي ليست موجهة إلى الأخصائي ولكنها موجهة إلى الطالب وإلى الشخص المنزه عن الأهواء. وهي لا تفترض أجوبة تقليدية، وإنما تحاول تبديد الأوهام، ومنها وهم الإعتقاد وبضرورة تطور الرأسمالية إلى السوفياتية، وهم وحدة المصير المحتم لهذين النوعين من المجتمع الصناعي.. فالدرس الأول يعالج التنمية والنظام الإقتصادي. أما الدرس الثاني فقد خصص لدرس علاقات الطبقات، وقد اتجه الدرس الثالث إلى درس أساس النظامين السياسيين وطبيعتهما أي نظام الحزب الإحتكاري من جهة ونظام الحزب "الدستوري- الجماعي" من جهة أخرى.
إن تنوع المجتمعات التي تستحق أن تدعى مجتمعات صناعية، هذا التنوع الذي قد لا يكون أقل من تنوع المجتمعات التقليدية لا يكتشف إلا بواسطة هذه الدروس الثلاثة: الدرس الإقتصادي، والإجتماعي، والسياسي".
