وُلد عبد الله بن أحمد بن كاظم بن محمد بن يوسف اليوسف بتاريخ 20/8/1383 هـ الموافق 6/1/1964م في «حلة محيش» إحدى قرى منطقة القطيف في المنطقة الشرقية من المملكة العربية السعودية. نشأ الشيخ عبد الله اليوسف نشأة دينية عالية برعاية والديه، وقد عرف عنه منذ صغر سنه تحليه بالتقوى والأخلاق، وكذلك بالذكاء والفطنة، وكان مولعاً بالعلوم الدينية، مما جعله طموحاً للدخول في سلك علماء الدين، وهذا ماتحقق فعلاً في حياته المباركة.

إن لمنطقة "فدك" منزلة عظيمة في نفوس المؤمنين، وذلك لاقترانها بأعظم شخصية نسوية عرفها التاريخ الإسلامي، وهي فاطمة الزهراء، بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. ورغم أهمية هذه الأرض وكونها شغلت العالم الإسلامي طيلة القرون الثلاثة الأولى من عصر الإسلام الأول، إلا أن الكثير من الناس ما زالوا حتى الآن لا يعرفون موقعها الحقيقي الحالي، وفي هذا قال بعضهم أنها تقع في تبوك، وقال رأي آخر أنها في المدينة المنورة... وهكذا تضاربت الآراء والأقوال، ولا زال موقعها مجهولاً عند الكثير بالرغم من أنها أصبحت مدينة عامرة بدوائرها الحكومية، ومدارسها المتعددة، ومؤسساتها التجارية، ومساكنها المتنوعة.
وحرصاً على بيان موقعها الصحيح، وتوجيه أنظار المسلمين إلى معرفته، وإثبات اسمها التاريخي الذي غُيّر وبدل إلى اسم جديد وهو (الحائط)، رأى المؤلف "عبد الله اليوسف" أنه لمن الضروري العمل على إخراج هذا الكتاب، وفيه تحدث عن معنى فدك في اللغة، وعن تاريخها وكيفية الوصول إليها بسهولة ويسر، ثم انتقل إلى مدينة فدك، وتحدث بإيجاز عن دوائرها الحكومية، ومدارسها، ومساجدها، ومحل الضيافة فيها، وبعد ذلك تكلّم عن أسواقها، وعينها الفوّارة سابقاً، وحدائقها، ومساكنها القديمة والحديثة، ونخيلها الكثيف، مزيناً ذلك بالصور الملّونة، وختم الكتاب بذكر خطية السيدة فاطمة الزهراء كاملةً.
