إن من أهم الأحداث التي جرت في تاريخنا هي الأحداث التي جرت عقب اللحظات الأولى لوفاة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، والتي تكمن في قصة النزاع الذي دار بين فاطمة الزهراء عليها السلام بنت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وبين أبي بكر الصديق، وهذا الصراع مع اشتداده وتطاوله وحساسية الظروف السياسية آنذاك على ما سيظهر من طيات هذا الكتاب؛ أغفله الكثير من المؤرخين، وقد جمع المؤلف في الكتاب كل ما يرتبط بالموضوع من قريب أو بعيد، حيث استخلص من المصادر والمراجع كل ما يمكن أن يكون هو حقيقة الحال وواقعه في هذا الصراع.
ولا يخفى على القارئ أن في مطالعة قصة فدك وما يرتبط بها من أحداث يسلط الضوء على جانب من حياة الزهراء فاطمة عليها السلام، وهي المرحلة التي رسمت فيها الزهراء عليها السلام قصة جهاد امرأة ونضالها لاسترجاع حقها وبيان مظلوميتها. هذا وإن هذه القصة ترتبط في تاريخها اللاحق بالسياسة ارتباطاً وثيقاً، ويدلل على ذلك ما يذكره هذا الكتاب من الأحداث التي عصفت بقصة فدك بعد مرحلة من تاريخ الصراع والنزاع الذي دار بين فاطمة عليها السلام وأبي بكر.
