يحتوي هذا الكتاب على دراسة أعدها الدكتور "حسين سبيتي"، الأستاذ في الجامعة اللبنانية، ليتحدث فيها عن تاريخ القائد التاريخي الفذ الذي كان يرنوا إلى خلق جغرافية–سياسية تتواصل فيها الحضارات الشرقية والغربية، هذا القائد هو نابليون بونابرت، ابن الجزيرة المتوسطية كورسيكا، والقائد العسكري الأسطوري لفرنسا، ولتأتي هذه الدراسة كاملة سعى المؤلف إلى الإحاطة بتاريخ نابليون الكامل بدءاً بولادته، وبعد ذلك توقف عند جميع المحطات التي مرت بها سيرة حياته، من العائلة إلى المدرسة الحربية، فإلى بداية التميُّز في حصار طولون فإلى بداية النصر في إيطاليا ثم الأسطورة في مصر فالانتصارات الكبرى في أوسترليتز وإيينّا مروراً بالانكسارات المدمرة في روسيا وليبزيغ وبالنهاية الأليمة والخسارة الفادحة في واترلو وعودة الملكية إلى فرنسا، متوقفاً أخيراً أمام انتصارات نابليون الدائمة والخالدة في القانون والعلوم والأفكار والحضارة العامة، وهدف المؤلف من كل ذلك هو تقديم صورة عن نابليون فيها الكثير من الوضوح والموضوعية، صورة متكاملة تقريباً، واضعاً بتصرف القرّاء العرب مرجعاً نفيساً ومفيداً.
