وهكذا تناول أمور عديدة من فلسفة الهنود والصينيين، كما أنه اعتمد كثيراً على علوم اليونان والرومان ثم على حضارة المسلمين وعلى حضارة القرون الوسطى بكاملها، كما أنه درس هذه المشكلات خلال عصر النهضة والعصور الحديثة في المدارس الفلسفية عامة عند علماء وفلاسفة أوروبا وحتى كبار المؤرخين وفلاسفة التاريخ الذين برزوا في العصر الحاضر من أمثال اشبنغلر وتوينبي.
