تنبهت من غفوتك، قمت متعباً، أزحت القماش الأسود من على اللوحة، افترسك الفزع، كان كل ش العالم يجتمع في تلك اللوحة، كان الليل يلمع أنيابه ويوسخ إبطه بأولئك الذئاب.
أشعلت عود ثقاب، فركضت ناره تلتهم اللوحة، احترقوا جميعهم وصاروا رماداً. إذن ليتجرأ الصباح مرة أخرى أن يركلك ناحية الشارع، ولتيجرأ مرة أخرى خذا الجرس أن يعلن عن شبحه القاتل، سوف ترسم لوحات كثيرة وتحرقها كي ترتاح من الجميع، ما عدا لوحة أمك.
