كتاب يصدر عن دار نينوى بالتعاون مع ملحق أقاصي في مسقط بدأت العصافير المرتعشة تتابع يدي الأسد ذواتي المخالب والعروق النافرة، يدان تتحركان وتمسكان المعدن الذهبي للحزام الأسود. تفتحان المعدن الذي حرر الحزام من وسطه وتحول إلى أفعى، لف رأسها حول كف يده اليمنى. العيون الصغيرة ذبلت وقلوبها تحاول الطيران إلى بيوتها. مشى ببطء إلى آخر القفص، وبشكل مباغت وجّه ضربة قاسية إلى العصفور الذي كسر خوفه بالضحك. صرخ بحرقة، أما بقية العصافير فبلعت صراخها وطارت قلوبها أمامها. بعد ذلك سحبه من دشداشته ورمى به خارج الباب. تكور مثل حشرة مهروسة لا تستطيع حتى أن تئن. بعدها لمحه الجميع يمشي مطأطىء الرأس والجدران تتقاذف بكاءه. ازادد خوفهم مع كل دقيقة تزيد في أعمارهم. انتهت لعبة المرح وازداد خوفهم. ازداد وما زال يزداد حتى هذا اليوم.
