الجغرافية الإقليمية أهم فروع علم الجغرافية وتهدف إلى دراسة خصائص الأقاليم التي تميز إقليما عن آخر، من حيث تقسيم الأرض وتضاريسها ومناخها والعلاقة بين الأرض والإنسان والكتب التي تتناول هذا العلم أكثر من أن تعد أو تحصى. ورغم تعدد وجهات نظر العلماء المتخصصين في الجغرافية الإقليمية يبقى الاتفاق بينهم على دراسة البنية والسطح، والمناخ والنبات والحيوان.
يتألف الكتاب من أربعة أقسام وتمهيد يعرض للمبادئ العامة، والأقسام الأربعة فهي على التوالي: العروض الدنيا: الأقاليم المدارية، العروض الوسطى: المناطق الدفيئة، العروض العليا: المناطق الباردة، والأقاليم الجبلية. وفي هذه الأقسام يقدم المؤلف دراسات مفصلة لأقاليم معينة إذ لا يمكن الفصل بين العناصر التي تمثل مظاهر السطح، إذ أن نظاهر السطح تعتمد على التراكيب الجيولوجي للطبقات التي تحتها.
