يأتي هذا الكتاب من ضمن سلسلة (في سبيل الحوار الإسلامي المسيحي) للأستاذ الحداد، وهو الكتاب الثالث وعنوانه "القرآن والمسيحية" ويتناول خلاله المؤلف الحداد، موقف القرآن الحقيقي من المسيحية عبر ثلاثة ظواهر (شبهات) وجدها في القرآن الكريم جعلت الناس من مسلمين ومسيحيين يتوهمون - بتعبير المؤلف - بأن القرآن الكريم يكفّر المسيحيّة كما نعرفها منذ عصر النزول إلى عصرنا هذا، وهو براء من ذلك.
وبناءً على ما تقدم يعود المؤلف إلى الآيات القرآنية التي عدّها الناس "تكفيرات القرآن" ويقوم بشرحها في معناها الظاهر والباطن، ومن هذه الشبهات الشبهة الأولى "أن الحوار القائم في القرآن بين الإسلام والمسيحية (حوار محصور مع بدعة مسيحية) يمثلها وفدّ نجران إلى النبي، وجماعة الراهب أبي عامر في المدينة، وأهل مؤتة وتبوك في مشارف الشام".
لذلك، عدّ المؤلف الحوار القرآني معها مفقود، لا وجود له في القرآن الكريم، والشبهة الثانية التي أفسدت الحوار التاريخي حتى اليوم، هي ظروف نشأته التاريخية: "فقد نشأ الحوار الفعلي، بل الصراع العملي بين الإسلام والمسيحية في ظروف الفتح الإسلاميّ لديار المسيحية، فتأثر بها التأثر السيء الذي عانينا منه إلى اليوم".
وعليه، فإن هذا الحوار التاريخي كان متأثراً في ظروف نشأته التاريخية كونه كان يعتمد على النظريات الكلامية والفلسفية في صراع الملّتين، وأهل الإنجيل وأهل القرآن الكريم هم (أهل الكتاب)، فلا يصحّ حوار فيما بينهما إلا على أساس الكتابين... و ﴿بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ﴾... بحسب أمر القرآن الكريم [العنكبوت: (46)]، وعلى أساس البحث الإستقرائي، لا البرهان النظريّ.
هذا هو الأسلوب الجديد والهام الذي يعتمده الأستاذ الحداد في دروسه حول الحوار الإسلامي المسيحي، وهو فتح جديد يتعرّف من خلاله القارئ على الإسلام والمسيحية على أنها دين واحد وشهادة واحدة، ففي معرفة موقف القرآن الكريم من المسيحية "صراط مستقيم إلى الحوار القديم" وهو الهدف النهائي للمؤمنون الباحثون عن الله تعالى.
