هذا معجم جرى ترتيبه وتنظيمه تمهيداً لترجمته غلى اللغات الأجنبية وفاقاً لمعايير اختار الكلمات النحوية التي وردت في "معجم مصطلحات الإعراب والبناء" للسفير الدحداح. وفيما يتم إعداد الكتاب لمواجهة القارئ الأجنبي، تدعو مكتبة لبنان القارئ العربي إلى الاشتراك في هذه التجربة الثقافية الفرادة، ولا سيما أن المادة العربية الكاملة وتعالج الصرف والنحو من ألفهما إلى الياء.
لذلك تقررت طباعة معجم عربي-عربي يتمايز بالخصائص التالية:
1-تسهيل النظرة الشمولية غلى التصنيف القواعدي العربي انطلاقاً من الحرف، مروراً بالاسم فالفعل وانتهاءً بالجملة وملحقاتها.
2-بدء كل فصل من فصول الكتاب بهيكل عام يشمل التقسيمات المهمة.
3-ترتيب كل صفحة بطريقة موحدة تتناول المادة بكاملها وتعالج مضمونها بأسلوب مقتضب.
4-تركيز انتباه القارئ بلوحات تنظيمية تساعد على فهم الجزئيات وتفصيلها.
5-صياغة تحديات جديدة في بعض المواد بخاصة: الكلام المفيد وأركان الجمل، الفعل الناقص، النواسخ، المرافيع والمناصب، والمفاعيل والأفاعيل.
6-مواجهة مسألة الفعل الناقص بجسارة أدبية لا مثيل لها في كتب النحو، واقتراح حلول مبتكرة لها تستند غلى إرادة المتكل في اختيار الكلام المفيد.
7-حصر معاني الحروف حصراً دقيقاً.
8-تأهيل مواد الصرف والنحو للمنهجية والمحسابية هذا وقد ارتأت مكتبة لبنان المحافظة على عنوان المعجم العربي-العربي كما كان مقرراً بالنسبة إلى المعجم العربي-الأجنبي، وذلك إسهاما منها في إبراز عالمية القواعد العربية.
9-زيادة مسرد المصطلحات ثلاثي اللغة (عربي-إنكليزي-فرنسي).
