والمعجم موجه إلى القارئ الأجنبي، والفرنسي بصورة خاصة، الراغب بالتحققفي قواعد العربية. لذا قام المؤلف بترجمة قواعد اللغة العربية إلى الفرنسية، فكان تصميم الكتاب يقضي بمقابلة كل صفحة عربية بصفحة فرنسية تشرحالنص العربي وتوضح مضمونه، هذا وإن هذا المعجم كان متميزاً بالخصائص التالية:1- الطريقة الدقيقة في تحويل الحروف العربية، 2- الترجمة الملائمة للتصنيف القواعدي العربي، 3- التحديدات الجديدة لبعض المواد الهامة، 4- الحلول التي إقترحها المؤلف في مسألة مواجهة الفعل الناقص.
