إن منهج هذه الدراسة ليس عرض النظريات المقترحة كما عبر عنها أصحابها، وإنما هو منهج يحاول توظيف أسس هذه النظريات لقراءة الواقع الدولي الراهن في علاقاته بالعالم العربي كلما كان ذلك ممكناً، بمعنى آخر، إنه تصور للواقع الدولي الراهن الذي يبدو مليئاً بالتناقضات، ولكن التكامل الحاصل بين هذه النظريات-رغم اختلافها-يبين أن مصلحة الدول الكبرى-صاحبة المبادرة والقرار في العلاقات الدولية-في هذه المرحلة تجعل من تلك النظريات تتعاون أكثر مما تختلف.
بمعنى آخر فإن هذه الدراسة تحاول أن تميز بين ما هو صادق وما دون ذلك في سياسات الدول في مجالات التكامل والأفكار المثالية وغيرها من خلال مناقشة الواقع الدولي، خلفياته وإفرازاته الداخلية والخارجية... من منظور النظريات المقترحة ليصل بعدها إلى تقدير أوزانها في فهم وتفسير ذلك الواقع، وما إذا كانت ستسمر كنظريات مطروحة في المساحة الدولية أم لا.
