شهد العامان الأخيران من القرن الماضي عدداً كبيراً من الأزمات يعود الكثير منها إلى أكثر من نصف قرن، كالصراع في كشمير بين الهنود وباكستان، والصراع بين الكوريتين، وقضية إقليم تيمور الشرقية، وغيرها. وأغلب ما تبقى من صراعات يعود إلى الربع الأخير من هذا القرن: كالصراع في جنوب السودان، والنزاع في الكونغو، والحركات الانفصالية في جزر القمر، وغيرها من الأزمات التي يرصدها العقيد مصطفى الدباغ في هذا الكتاب. وقد عمد المؤلف في هذا الكتاب إلى وضع خارطة لكل منطقة أو دولة يجري النزاع على أرضها، ثم وضع المعلومات الأساسية كالمناخ والسكان والاقتصاد... ثم قام بسرد تفاصيل النزاع مدار البحث، بتطورات مراحله المختلفة، فتم له رصد أربعة وعشرين نزاعاً دولياً على امتداد الساحة الدولية، وخلال مساحة زمنية تغطي العامين الأخيرين من القرن المنصرم، والتي تم ترحيل الأغلب الأعم منها إلى العام 2000 لتأخذ مواقعها وتتمرس في ردهات ودهاليز القرن الجديد.
