الذَّاكرةُ والقِضَّةُ القصيرة مُعْظَمُ أقاصيصِ هذا الكتابِ انبَثَقَ مِنَ الذَّاكِرَةِ
بَعْضُها كانَ ابنَ لَمْحةٍ عابرةٍ: "صُوفِيَّا"؛ وبعضُها أيقَظَتْهُ كَلِمَةٌ وقعتُ عليها صِدْفةً في جريدةٍ صَباحِيَّةٍ: "قِنِّينَةُ الزَّيتِ" وبعضُها أوْحاهُ عُنْقُودُ عِنَبٍ، رفعَتهُ صبيَّةٌ كانت تبتاعُ مؤونةَ النَّهارِ مِنْ دُكَّانِ جارنا طانيوس: "الكَرْمُ".
قد تكونُ الذَّاكِرةُ أحَدَ ينابيعِ القِصَّةِ القصيرةِ، وإحْدى حامياتِ الهُوِيَّةِ الإنسانيَّةِ عَبْرَ الزَّمانِ وتعاقُبِ الأجيالِ؛ فنحنُ لا نعيشُ الحاضِرَ تمامًا، بل نَخطو، واضعينَ قَدَمًا في الماضي وقدَمًا في الْمُسْتَقبلِ؛ فيَبْدو الحاضِرُ وكَأَنَّهُ جِسْرٌ يَصلُ ذِكرى بمَشْروعٍ؛ من هنا أنَّ أحدَ أهَمِّ أدوارِ الأدبِ هوَ حِمَايَةُ الذَّاكِرةِ الفَرْدِيَّةِ وتحويلُها، مِنْ ثَمَّ، إلى ذاكرةٍ عامَّةٍ. وأمتَعُ فُصُولِ الكتابةِ، وهيَ مُغامرةٌ في كُلِّ حالٍ، هُوَ دُخُولُ مَغارَةِ الذَّاتِ، والتَّوَغُلُ في أرْجائها ودهاليزِها، إذْ يَقَعُ الكاتِبُ، أحيانًا، على كُنوزٍ ما حَلُمَ، يومًا، بالعثورِ عليها.
إنَّ ثُنائِيَّةَ الأمسِ والغَدِ، كثنائيَّةِ التَّذّكُّرِ والنِّسْيانِ، لا تُبارِحُ ذِهْنَنا، وفي عُمْرٍ ما، يَرْجَحُ الماضي على الْمُسْتَقْبلِ، فنعودُ إلى الأيامِ الخوالي نَسْتَعْطيها مِمَّا خَبَّأتْهُ لنا في خوابٍ مِنْ زيتٍ وخَمْرٍ وبَشاشَةِ وُجوهٍ وهَنَاتٍ سعيدةٍ. فالماضي لا يموتُ، وإنْ مضى، يبقى حَيًّا في الذَّاكرةِ إلى حين، وفي اللاوعي، كُلَّ حينٍ؛ ونحنُ إذْ نعيشُ في المكانِ والزَّمانِ، نَمْلِكُ في المكانِ [البيتَ، الْحَقْلَ والكَرْمَ] ولا نَمْلِكُ الزَّمان، فهذا يبتعِدُ عَنَّا ولا يَهْجُرُنا.
وإنْ كُنَّا نعيشُ في الوَقْتِ، فلا يعني ذلِكَ أننا وَقْتِيُّون أو مُوَقَّتون؛ ولن نَسْتطيعَ فهمَ الحاضِرَ إذا كُنَّا نجهلُ الماضي؛ وفي هذا المجالِ الرَّحْبِ، هناكَ غيرُ سؤالٍ يطرحُ نَفْسَهُ، مثلاً: هل نعيشُ في الزَّمانِ كما في المكانِ؟ هل بِقُدْرَتِنا مُغادَرَةَ الزَّمانِ كما نُغادِرُ المكانَ؟
