"اسمع النصيحة، تنفس واكتم، تنفس واكتم، فلن يعود في وسعك التنفس مجاناً، ولّى أوان التنفس المجاني... حضّر نفسك لأن تشتري الهواء قريباً من... الشركة الهوائية لإعادة تنفيس الإنسان اللبناني". إن الظرفاء بين كتّاب الصحافة في لبنان خاصة وفي الوطن العربي عموماً، قلة قليلة تكاد تعدّ على أصابع اليدين... ربما لأن الظرف سليقة أو موهبة لا تتأتى بالاكتساب، وإن كان ممكناً إغناؤها-وإن هي وجدت أصلاً-بالثقافة. إن للظرفاء عيناً ترى ما لا يرى، وتلتقط المفارقة بينما يغفل عنها الآخرون.
وصحيح أن الأوضاع في لبنان من "العجب العجاب" وفيها "من كل مستطرف مستظرف" وبعض مفارقاتها تضحك الثكالى، فالكلمات غالباً ما تعني عكس معانيها، والخطب الرسمية غالباً ما تكون "نكات" سمجة "حتى لو تهدجت بها أصوات قارئيها، لكن "احتراف" الكتابة بظرف مهمة شاقة لا يقدر عليها إلا القلة القليلة من حملة الأقلام".
ولقد شهد "الخاصة" قبل "العامة" لفيصل سلمان بهذه الميزة. أن يعيد المعنى إلى الكلمات حتى لو أسقط قائليها! والكاتب الظريف نادر ندرة رسام الكاريكاتور، وهو مثله يمشي على حدّ السيف يحاذر أن يسقط ويحاذر أن يمسك بالشفرة القاطعة، كما يحاذر أن يتحول إلى بهلوان. وعقوبة القارئ للكاتب الظريف قاسية جداً، إذ قد يغفر للكاتب أو للمعلق أو للمحلل سوء تقدير أو خطأ في الاستنتاج، ولكنه لا يغفر لمن وعده بأن يضحك من نفسه أن يخذله.
