يعتبر الشيخ الفقيه غنام بن محمد بن غنام النجدي ثم الزبيري ثم الدمشقي: من أفراد الحنابلة النجديين الذين استوطنوا بدمشق طلباً للعلم, حيث قدم الى دمشق ليقرأ فقه الإمام أحمد بن حنبل على حنابلة بلاد الشام, بعد أن قرأه على حنابلة نجد والزبير, ولما بلغ مراده, واستقام عوده, تصدر للإقراء والتدريس بدمشق, بعد أن طاب له المقام بها, فكان مقصد الحنابلة والقادمين من خارج دمشق لتلقي العلم فيها, كأهل نجد, وأهل نابلس, وغيرهم. وقد تم الكشف عن أثرين نادرين من آثار هذا العلامة, وهما هاتان الرسالتان: رسالة (أجوبة لطيفة عن أربع سؤالات شريفة), وهي رسالة متعلقة بمسائل الاجتهاد والتقليد. ورسالة في أسانيد شيخه العلامة مصطفى السيوطي الحنبلي الأثري, حيث ذكر فيها إسناده لكتاب (منتهى الإرادات) في الفقه الحنبلي, وقد كان هذا الكتاب عمدة الدروس في بلاد الشام, وفيه خلاصة الفقه الحنبلي, وهاتان الرسالتان وإن كانتا صغيرتي الحجم إلا أن إبرازهما في عالم الطبع يضيف أثراً جديداً في قائمة مصنفات الحنابلة, وفي اهتمامات علماء نجد وآثارهم.
