ان الدراسات الحديثة التي اظهرت مدى اهمية السنوات الخمس الاولى في حياة الطفل، واثرها البالغ في نموه وبناء شخصيته، وتنمية مواهبه وقدراته، وبخاصة ان نمو هذه المواهب والقدرات يبلغ معظم مداه في هذه المرحلة المبكرة من حياته، الامر الاساس والاول والاهم في بناء شخصية الفرد، ورسم خطوط مستقبله. ومن هنا اخذت رعاية الطفل منذ ان كان جنينا، وحتى يبلغ اشده، الامر الذي حدا كل امة على ان تجند العديد من علمائها، ومربيها لخدمة هذا الهدف وقدراتهم لينطلقوا بعد ذلك، وبكل ما اوتوا من قوة لخدمة انفسهم، وخدمة مجتمعهم، وما احتفال العالم ومنذ عام 1979م بسنة الطفل الدولية، الا دليل على الاهتمام المتزايد بالطفل، تقديرا لطفولته اولا، وايمانا بضرورة ان يعيش الطفل طفولة سعيدة، ثانيا: تهيئ له حياة افضل حين يقوى جسمه، ويشتد ساعده. ونظرا لما للبيئة من اثر على اثارة الاطفال، وانطلاقهم لتنمية اهتماماتهم، والكشف عن مواهبهم وقدراتهم، عمد المربون الى ضرورة توفير بيئة غنية في الروضة، تعمل على اثارتهم، وتلبية احتياجاتهم للعمل على كشف ميولهم وقدراتهم، ليمارس فيها كل منهم الخبرة التي تناسبه، والنشاط الذي يلبي فيه احتياجاته، وميوله، يختاره هو بنفسه ليمارسه بحريته واختياره.
