لعلّ القراءة من أهم وسائل المعرفة، وأكثرها فاعلية في تناول الأفكار، وتواصلها، وكذلك في إنتشار المعرفة وتفعيل الأفكار، وفي تنمية القدرة على التفكير، وفي القدرة على التبصر والإستبصار، وفي إستخدام المنطق والمحاكمة العقلية للوصول إلى قرار صائب وإتخاذه أساساً للحكم على الأمور.
وأكثر ما يدلّ على أهمية القراءة إذا ما تمّت بالطريق السليم واستوفت شروط صحتها، بما يتفق والأهداف المرجوّة منها أن أول آية نزلت في القرآن الكريم تحت الرسول عليه السلام والمؤمنون على أن يقرأوا، وبتمعّن وتبصّر فقال تعالى: ﴿ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ* خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ* اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ* الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ* عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴾ صدق الله العظيم، وكذلك قوله تعالى: ﴿ وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآَنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا ﴾... [سورة الأعراف، آية 204].
وفي هذا كله ما يرشدنا إلى أن القراءة والمطالعة لا تستوفي شروطها، ولا تحقق الهدف من وجودها وممارستها لمجرد الإستماع إليها، أو النطق بكلماتها، وإنما يتمّ ذلك فوق هذا بالتفرغ لما تقرأ، والتبصر بما فيه من أفكار بشكل موضوعي بعيد عن التطرّف والتعصب وهو أمرٌ يتطلب منا حضور الذهن.
والتبصّر فيما نقرأ من أفكار ومعان بكل رؤية دون أن تشتت إنتباهنا، ونصرفه عن قصده، وبشكل نصرف فيه أحساسنا وعقلنا إلى ما نفرؤه، وبكل يقظة وإنتباه، وإلا أصبحت قراءتنا كما تنطق الببغاء بكل ما تسمع ولمجرد تقليد لما تسمعه دون أن يكون لما تقرؤه أثر في نفسها أو في ما تحسّه وتشعر به.
ولذلك كان علينا أن نسمع وأن نقرأ وأن نعي ما نسمعه وما نقرؤه، وبذلك نكون قد عملنا على تنمية عقولنا، وقدرتنا على التفكير والموازنة، وعلى تنمية شعورنا وأحاسيسنا وعلى تعميق هذا الشعور، وهذه الأحاسيس.
