هذا الكتاب: نسخة نفيسة, تداولها العلماء, و قرئت في المجالس متعددة عبر سنوات طوال في بغداد و دمشق, و عليها سمعات و مقابلات على نسخة أخرى, و لكن مع كل هذا لم تخل من هنات هنا و هناك, ندت عنها أبصار أولئك العلماء و أسماعهم. و الضبط في هذه المخطوطة نادر للغاية و تضمنت أخبار الموفقيات للزبير بن بكار. و قام المحقق بترميم الجزء الثالث المفقود بقدر الاستطاعة, و دون استقصاء, من مصادر الأدب و لم ينقل إلا ما ورد في سنده أنه عن المدائني, و أنه في موضوع التعازي حصراً.
