ففي قصة (فصامذ!) إحدى قصص المجموعة يطرق الراوي مسألة التناقض بين الفكر والممارسة لدى المثقفين العربي الذي لا تتوافق مواقفه المعلنة مع حياته الشخصية فيسوق للقارئ حوار صحفي لأحدهم يقول فيه: (إن المرأة هي مرأة الأمة ونصف المجتمع، واي تعطيل لدورها التنموي هو تعطيل للمجتمع بأكمله) (...) وفي لحظات حميية قالت له زوجته: "حبيبي ممكن تعلمني اسوق السيارة؟" استشاط غضباً "فطلقها بالثلاث".
إنها الحياة بتعقيداتها، بوجوهها، وأقنعتها يعيد عبد الرحمن العمراني إنتاجها عبر قصص قصيرة، تتقرى الواقع، بجميع مظاهره وتفصيلاته، بدون زخرفة الأمر الذي تجلى في صور سردية متناغمة تعيد النظر بكثير من المسلمات التي حكمت الواقع ليس في بلد الكاتب وحسب، بل في غالبية البلدان العربية.
"ليس في هذه الإضمامة ما يَشُقُّ على القارئ ويُهَوِّل عليه. وسِرّ أدبيّتها ظاهر في ذلك اليُسْر، وفي تلك السُّهولة التي تَحْمِل على الدّهَش والابتسام. وقِصَص هذه المجموعة قصيرة، بلْ قصيرة جِدًّا.... وغاية ما ترمي إليه أنْ تَخْلَع على المألوف الطّرافةَ والغرابةَ،وأنْ تَحْملنا على أنْ نَزيد الحياة والنّاس نَظَرًا وتفكيرًا وتأمُّلا.
