تحتل التربية المعرفية مكاناً بارزاً في حقل التعليم اليوم، ولكن الواضح أن هذا الاهتمام لم يزاوج بين التربية المعرفية والفنون بشكل يعمق ويوضح الفكرتين معاً لدى النشء المهتم بجمع الفكرتين "التربية المعرفية والفنون الجميلة"، ولم يبحث فيهما بشكل يعلّمنا كيفية فعل ذلك التجانس ما بين الاختصاصين، وغالباً ما كان يتم الفصل بينهما من خلال رجالات هذه التخصصات، من هنا جاء اهتمام الباحث الدكتور كريم حميدي الربيعي الى وضع دراسة حول "التربية المعرفية وأخلاقيات شكلانية الفنون الجميلة" وهي في مضمونها محاولة للتقريب بين التربية المعرفية والفنون الجميلة، وفق أسس البناء المعرفي الذي هو الأساس الذي يؤطر للقارئ المتخصص سلوكاً ومنهجاً معرفياً تثقيفياً توعوياً ممنهجاً عالٍ وجادٍ في الحرص والاهتمام، والتي ستكون نتيجتها إدامة التلاقح المعرفي والإبداعي لتطوير الإمكانيات وتشجيع العمل في هذا المضمار.
إن ما يرومه مؤلف الكتاب: التشجيع على استلهام الأسس الفلسفية الاجتماعية التربوية وربطها بعالم الإبداع والفن، وائدها كما يرى رجال التربية ورجال الفنون، وخاصة أن العصر الذي نحن فيه "أصبح الفن والإبداع الفني فيه يتصدر كل منافذ الحياة العملية سواء أكان في السياسة أو الاقتصاد أو الأفكار الاجتماعية والعلمية مجتمعة، ولذلك تعتبر التربية المعرفية ضرورة من ضرورات التمازج مع الفنون الجميلة والتعامل بجدية وصبر مع الافكار التي تقوض العلاقة ما بين هذه التربية والفنون وتطويرها باتجاه جوانبها الإيجابية...".
تتألف الدراسة من ثلاثة فصول تناول أولها: مفاهيم التربية المعرفية وكيفية نشوءها، بينما تناول الثاني منها: النظم التربوية.. أهميتها.. دورها.. علاقاتها.. غاياتها.. مستقبلها.. ثم العلاقة بين المجتمع ومفهوم التربية، وكان الفصل الأخير حول "أخلاقيات شكلانية الفن" وموضوعه: الإنسان وأهميته وتطورية الإبداع الفني.
