برزت على الساحة الفكرية والسياسية في العالم الإسلامي مفاهيم عديدة شكلت تحديات أمام الفكر الإسلامي الحديث، ومن هذه المفاهيم ظاهرة الأحزاب السياسية وتعددها في العالم الإسلامي. فقد ظهرت الاحزاب السياسية كظاهرة سياسية واجتماعية في العالم الإسلامي مع إنشاء الدول القومية، على أنقاض الدولة العثمانية، ومنذ ذلك الحين أصبحت الأحزاب السياسية تشكل مشكلة أمام الفكر الإسلامي والجماعات الإسلامية العاملة في الساحة السياسية، والدعوية، حيث طرحت تساؤلات عديدة حول مدى تقبل منظومة القيم الإسلامية للاحزاب السياسية وتعددها باعتبارها بضاعة وافدة إلينا من المستعمر الغربي وخاصة إذا علمنا بان التراث الإسلامي يعطينا صورة غير ايجابية للفظ الأحزاب.
هذا الكتاب يحاول تتبع مواقف وآراء أبرز أصحاب الفكر الإسلامي، المعاصرين، من هذه الظاهرة ووقف على آراء المؤيدين والمعارضين لها وحللها للوصول الى نتيجة تخدم تعزيز وترسيخ مفاهيم الحرية والديمقراطية والشوروية في المجتمعات الاسلامي بحيث تتمكن هذه المجتمعات من التعامل مع التغيرات والمستجدات الحالية في العالم في إطار القيم الإسلامية.
