في كتابه "جبل العلويين وجبل عامل" يؤكد الدكتور خضر محمد نبها أن العلويين هم مسلمون جعفريون يعتنقون العقيدة الإسلامية الجعفرية ويطبقون أحكام المذهب الجعفري في جميع عباداتهم ومعاملاتهم ولا يعتقدون بما ينفي المذهب الإسلامي الجعفري وبهدف التأكيد على هذه المقولة يجمع الكثير من الوثائق التاريخية والمراسلات العلمية، علها - كما يقول - تكون محاولة جديدة لإعادة التواصل العلمي الذي قام به الأسلاف.
جاء الكتاب في فصلين وملحق. في الفصل الأول كان الكلام عن "شيعة جبل العلويين" و"شيعة جبل عامل"، كمحاولة تأصيلية لنقاط الاتفاق والافتراق بينهما، وخلص الى أن شيعة جبل العلويين وشيعة لبنان في الفقه جعفريون، وفي العقيدة أصوليون وعرفانيون.
أما الفصل الثاني، فأثبت فيه المؤلف مراسلات السيد عبد الحسين شرف الدين، والشيخ حبيب آل إبراهيم المهاجر، والشيخ محمد رضا شمس الدين، والشيخ محمد جواد مغنية، وفي الواقع كانت أكثر الصفحات في الكتاب عن الشيخ حبيب، لأنه أول من عاش في جيال العلويين لسنوات، وقام بأعمال جليلة عندهم، لذلك كانت مراسلات العلويين إليه هي الأكثر، حيث تجاوزت الرسائل بينهما المئات في مسائل الفقه والعقيدة والأحوال الشخصية.. الخ.
وفي الكتاب أيضاً، أضاف المؤلف سيرة الشيخ حبيب آل ابراهيم التي كان هو قد أثبتها في الجزءين الرابع والخامس من كتابه/ مجلته (الإسلام في معارفه وفنونه )، مع الإشارة أسماء المرسلين وموضوعاً رسائلهم.
وأخيراً، جعل المؤلف ملحقاً لهذه الرسائل (ثبّتها) كما وردت في الكتاب المذكور وأضاف إليها ملحقاً خاصاً بمحضر الاجتماع الذي عقد في المجلس الاسلامي الشيعي الأعلى بتاريخ 29/3/1972م مع العلويين والمقررات التي صدرت عن هذا الاجتماع بحضور الإمام موسى الصدر، إضافة إلى فتوى وحكم رئيس المحاكم الشرعية الجعفرية في لبنان.
