تؤرّخ مقالات هذا الكتاب ملامح مرحلة ثقافية وسياسية متوثّبة عاشها الكاتب متمرداً على المألوف، عصيّاً على التدجين رافضاً للمسايرة والترويض، محتجّاً على كلّ ألوان الإستقطابات والوظائف السياسية المدفوعة الثمن.
ولما كانت هذه المقالات قد تشكّلت من خلال حوارات ثقافية وفكرية عاصفة، فإنها جاءت (عكس التيار) فعلاً، حيث تجاوزت بعض الخطوط الحُمر وإستطاعت الإنسلال من دوائر الممنوع وأسْر الرأي الواحد، فتجلّى من خلال بعض كلماتها وألغازها صراع الحرية ضد الإستبداد، والإستضعاف ضد الترف، والمقال المسؤول ضد المقال المأجور المرتزق.
وكما يقول الكاتب في مقدّمة كتابه: "حين تضيق الخيارات أمام الأحرار، ولا يُترك لهم إلاّ خياراً (السلّة او الذلّة)، كما يقول أبو الأحرار وسيّد الشهداء، يكون الخيار الوحيد أمام الكاتب الحرّ، وبلغة الضمير الشعبي واحدٌ من خيارين: إما (الإستنعاج) أو (الإستشهاد)، وحين يشحّ رجال المواقف وتنكمش مواقف الرجال، فلا بدّ لهذا الكاتب أن يختار الطريق الثاني، أي لا بدّ أن يُذبح بسبف كلماته ويرحّل عن دنيا (الهمج الرعاع) ذوداً عن قضية عادلة، أو دفاعاً عن حقّ مهضوم، أو إنتصاراً لدين مضيّع...".
نعم... هذا هو قدر الأحرار في العالم الثالث، وسيبقى هكذا ما دامت مثل هذه المقالات "عكس التيار".
