إن من أشرف العلوم علم "أصول الفقه"، إذ هو الملاذ عند كل نازلة وواقعة، وهو الملجأ عند الحيرة في توليد فتوى تناسب سؤال السائل، وترفع حيرة الحائر، حيث ترد الفروع إلى أصولها، ويظهر دوران العلة من عدمها، وفي أصول الفقه تجد دقة النظر، وحدة البصر، وسلامة الإستنباط من غير ليٍّ لأعناق النصوص، أو تحريف لمقتضى أو فحوى، فكل شيء في هذا العلم بمقدار، وكل شيء فيه له حد، فالظاهر والنص، والمجمل والمبين، والخاص والعام، والمطلق والمقيد... كل ذلك معروف ومدون، والوصول إلى معرفته مهيأ وميسر.
وبين يدينا كتاب "شرح تنقيح الفصول في علم الأصول" للإمام "شهاب الدين القرافي" أجمع أهل هذا الفن على مدحه، والثناء عليه، وعلى مؤلفه الذي عرف بدقة تحريراته، وتفرده بكثير من التحقيقات التي استعصت على غيره، أضف إلى ذلك تواضعه الذي يظهر في مثل قوله: (والذي تقرر عليه حالي في "شرح المحصول" وههنا أني عاجز عن ضبط الرخصة بحد جامع مانع)، وهذا يدل على ديانة بالغة، وتواضع جم، فالله دره، وعليه على علماء المسلمين رحمة رب العالمين.
وقد قام بتحقيقه "أبي أسامة درويش" ضابطاً له على ست نسخ خطية، مع تخريج آياته، وأحاديثه، وترجمة أعلامه، والتعليق على بعض المواضع إن إحتاج الأمر، متوخياً في ذلك كله الإختصار، وعدم الإملال.
